4. Sip on cocktails with a skyline view

Sky-high dining is one thing, but sipping on an icy margarita while looking out over the city is a feeling like no other. Book your favourite local haunt for dinner afterwards, but spend the early evening at one of London’s top rooftop restaurants. The Berkeley has a glitzy rooftop with Hyde Park vistas and a pool, while further south, Forza Wine in Peckham is an iconic spot to drink fresh creations (sgroppino, lemon sorbet, vodka, and prosecco is our favourite) and small plates.

5. Have a picnic

Ok, this may sound boring, but London is home to some of the best city parks in the world, and if you’re hoping to celebrate a birthday without any of the admin, this is your best bet. Set up camp in Regent’s Park for a central spot easy for everyone to convene at, and bring an ice box filled with ice creams, cold beers and snacks to last the whole day. People can pop in and out as they please, and you’ll be near many of London’s top restaurants to round the day off with a delicious meal.

6. Celebrate with a DIY spa day

As wonderfully inviting as a spa day is, there are plenty of ways to engage in wellbeing without forking out a fortune. A host of new saunas and contrast therapy spots have opened across the city, allowing wellness-seeking city dwellers to take a quick break or mark a special occasion by trying something new. Peckham’s Sauna Social Club is the latest one we’re obsessing over, a community-focussed sauna designed for guests to have fun, as much as relax – spend your birthday sweating it out at an Aufguss session, complete with guided meditation, aromatherapy and poetry readings, or for something more lively, visit on a weekend evening for live DJ sets.
