Appointment of Thailand’s next Attorney General approved

The Public Prosecutor Commission has unanimously approved appointment of Phairach Pornsomboonsiri as the next Attorney- General. He will be replacing Amnat Jedcharoenruk, whose term will end on September 30th this year.

Phairach is currently the most senior Deputy Attorney-General. His appointment would mean he becomes the 19th Attorney-General of Thailand.

Next, the Office of the Attorney General will seek senate approval, as required by the Public Prosecution Organisation and Public Prosecutors Act B.E.2553 (2010) section 10. If approved, the appointment will be passed to the Palace for Royal assent.
