Prime Minister Srettha Thanvisin has left for Davos, Switzerland, to attend the annual World Economic Forum (WEF).
He wrote on his X account that he chose a commercial flight and was accompanied only by essential personnel due to limited options. He also shared a photo of himself during the flight.
According to Thai diplomatic sources, Srettha will deliver a speech at Davos, joining other world leaders in the annual WEF held from January 14-19.
Srettha will be the first Thai prime minister to speak at Davos in 12 years. The sources emphasized that this presents a valuable opportunity for Thailand to enhance its visibility on the world stage at this renowned international forum.
This year’s theme is ‘Rebuilding Trust,’ and during his visit, Srettha will engage in bilateral meetings with leaders of Europe’s prominent organizations.
Since assuming the premiership in September, Srettha has been actively traveling abroad to attract foreign investment and promote tourism.
In Davos, he is scheduled to hold talks with the European Community’s President Ursula Von Der Leyden and the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann.
From Southeast Asia, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will also be in attendance at Davos, along with over 100 other governments and major international organizations.
Hun Manet is also slated to visit Thailand on February 7 to strengthen bilateral ties.”
