The World’s 50 Best Bars is one of the most prestigious awards on the planet: the official guide to the most outstanding places to drink around the globe. The list is updated each year with an awards ceremony. Last year, for the 14th edition of the awards, the event took place in Barcelona (read on for the full list). In 2023, the event will take place in Singapore on Tuesday 17 October at 8.25pm local time – that’s 1.25pm BST. On Tuesday 10 October, the first half of the list – that’s the bars awarded numbers 51-100 on the list – were announced. Come back on Tuesday 17 October to see which bar was crowned in the top spot.

Which bar won the top spot in 2022?
In 2022, the top prize went to Paradiso in Barcelona. Dramatic, dimly lit and boasting an impressive list of imaginative cocktails, Paradiso is located in the city’s trendy El Born district. The speakeasy bar is hidden inside a deli shop. Open the fridge door to delve inside, where a curved, dark wooden bar leads onto a dream-like, red-tinged back room with lily pads on the ceiling and palm tree decor on the walls, while the cocktails are as breathtakingly creative as you might expect. The second spot went to Tayēr + Elementary, London, for the second year running, and third prize went to Sips, Barcelona.
Special awards were also announced, including the Campari One To Watch – an award for a rising star bar currently in the 51-100 list, but with the potential to break into the top rankings. It was awarded to Röda Huset in Stockholm, a Scandinavian bar known for its inspired minimalism and locally foraged ingredients.
