Court grants bail to five teenagers charged with armed robbery

Written by Thailand News

The Juvenile and Family Court in Buri Ram Province granted bail to five teenagers, aged 13-16 today (Monday). They were charged with stealing 2kg of kratom leaves from a roadside shop in Nang Rong district of Buri Ram Province.

The parents of the five youngsters each posted 20,000 baht in bail.

According to the Nang Rong district police, the five youths, two of whom were armed with pistols, stole the kratom leaves, reportedly to be boiled for drinking.

They explained that they committed the robbery because they had a quarrel with the shop-owner’s son, who allegedly attacked them with an explosive device.

They also claimed that they fired shots in the air with their home-made pistols to scare their rival, but had no intention to hurt anyone.

Police said that they would summon the shop-owner’s son for questioning before they wrap up the case to be forwarded to the prosecutors.
